Some thoughts an a knew idea to extend your childs wardrobe!

Well, I seemed to have forgotten what exactly the doctor means when he says "Take it Easy for a week or so"...I have been trying to do what I wanted to and all that done was make me feel worse! He called me in some new meds last night, 2 for my throat & mouth cause it seems the "Terribly Sore Throat Fairy" forgot to leave my house!! He also had to call in me a new muscle relaxer since the FDA decided they couldn't approve the one I was on any more and it has been used for decades! So now starts the battle to find another one that will work!

All in all it hasn't been a bad week, I just seem so incredibly busy. It seems like I no longer get up at 5:30 am or earlier and get started that its time to go to sleep again!

I have been sewing a bit every day or evening though and that helps to keep me focused on that..I do want to share a couple of things I learned/figured out on my own last night with ya'll though, and, am almost ready to see the finished results!

I have several A-line jumper tops/dresses with either pants or bloomers that have been cut out so long I can't remember when I did cut them out! But, thats neither hear nor there is it?! I took time to stop sewing last night when I figured out "Hey, I can cut another front/back out and make this jumper reversible", then I got to using the old noodle again and the results was "Wow, I can cut another front/back for the pants also & make reversible!"

I did just that! I cut out another set an put them together now I have a mix-n-match set that you can wear 6 or 7 different ways!! Whoohooo talking about a new way to do a child's wardrobe during these hard recession days cheaper but I did!! I like doing the ruffles an some top stitching an I can post some pics :-) ...

I will post the pictures this afternoon after my batteries charge! So i'll see you guys back after while (seriously I will pinky promise)!!

A Good Day for Sewing :-)

Good Morning everyone & happy Tuesday!

Its been a wonderful morning as far as the weather an getting things accomplished! I done alot of de-cluttering last night. Actually I worked in the house until the pain was showing its ugly little head all the way thru the steriods!!

Today started at 4:45 am..spent an hour with a cup of java trying to get really awake. Brittany got the girls here right at 6 am, Maddie went right back to sleep an Braylen wanted to cuddled for a bit, but she is still sleeping :-)

I just turned on my machines an have several items that just need finishing touches on them, so I am gonna "Finish" those before starting anymore even if they are summer sets..Where we live the lighter weight sets can be worn until November LOL!!

So off to get started an put my batteries on charge so I can get at least those done today ...I have to start on the kids Loveys asap if I am gonna have them done for birthdays! Another Week has gone by..I feel so far behind!

Well, it was a very interesting week to say the least...(last week that is!) This time last week I was in the hospital an feeling like poo! My daughter was sick, both grand daughters an my son...

A New Day with a re-newed interest

Hey everyone an I have to say it feels so right being back to my old self again

Today was busy but Awesome! you know Nana is having fun when her wonderful daughter comes to pick up her girls after work and says "Moma, you know you are having fun with all these kids around!"


My neighbor & long time friend Pam told me I went from Super Moma to Super Granny LOL!
Synoria another awesome friend told me I was just crazy!! LOL'd at that one!

Well, she's right! Even though all but 2 of them were the neighborhood kids we do have fun! Great bunch of kiddos & We love to have them around!

I did a bit of sewing today for Caprice...She got a new top for picture day tomorrow & of all things it needed to be altered! I got her to try it on an the "quick" fix hit me like a bomb! It took me longer to thread the machine than it did to actually sew it up lol...

After doing those two little seams I got to thinking why aren't you in here sewing!!?? I know now I was a bit burnt out on life & sewing. You know sometimes "life" just stops you for some reason or the other..

So I made myself a ever-so famous "to-do-list"..I am making it a point to make 2 new outfits a day, heck I even figured out the timing! In the morning before the girls get here I can make at least 2 new infant/toddler sets, then at naptime just make another :)

I got my list on the fridge door an my darling grand daughter Maddie who just turned 6 informed me of the "frog set" & a Hannah Montana set I promised her!! NO she never forgets or for that matter lets me forget!

My other two grand daughters are Brenna Rose 10 months & Braylen 9 months! They are walking an saying short words like ma ma, dada papa an nana of course! lol I am just glad they can't really talk yet! Also, I can't leave Caprice out she is my wonderful neighbor's daughter she is 8 an also doesn't let me forget! She reminded me today that I also have to finish her 2 outfits of course being hannah montana an a princess one!

WHEW!! I am tired already :-)


So if nothing else I will be getting all 4 of the girls sets done asap! Quite often I will take pattern pieces from 1 pattern, or more & come up with mix & match pieces that go awesome together. This is what I want a perfectly orginal look that I made.

Also, I get this look in my head & can't get it out so I kinda try & draw it out an add measurements an take brown shipping paper to make the finished pattern! Then I'll make a "sample set" an some I toss but some I complete an there is yet another entirely orginal designed set or dress or an array of other things I like to make.

I like my sets to look orginal as possible, practical, washable, affordable an most of all comfortable! Especially for the little ones!


Well, since its almost 2 am I must at least try to close my eyes for a bit! See you all later today if all goes well !! Wish me all kinds of luck :-)

Trimming Tricks - Threads

I found this little tidbit of info on the "Threads" Magazine home page this morning...I have been reading tons of things to kinda give me a "refresher" on some things that have to do with sewing...When I had the medical problem that caused me to loose my memory for a couple of years, well there were some things I just drew a blank on!

I totally forgot about "Threads" !! I love it an yes some of these tips are some that either a totally new sewer or one that needs a refresher rather quickly would need...BUT, it also gives all of us a helping hand in the "duh" moments! Esp. like mine lol...

I have been working on a dress that I totally had to walk off from cause I used a very stretchable gauze fabric (that i totally love!) an if you use tradional hems well it looks awful in my opinon ...Then the "lightbulb" went off in the old head an am using the serger to do serged edges instead of the hems ...now its working!!

OK, I will put the link to the "Threads" Magazine home page on here for those of you like me ..that might have forgotten! Now I HAVE to get back to work cause sense we have been keeping our granddaughters I have totally gotten off track!

Darn ya'll can tell I've been wayy to slow this month!!

I did finish a set of curtains for my neighbor last night though, thats one thing done! So today I have to get myself in there an sew together everything I have cut out in my sewin room or its gonna be fall again!!

For the first time in my life I am gonna do invisible zippers...I promise I will post on how much I liked them! And I might even remember to post pictures! Have a happy Tuesday everyone :)

Just Been Right Down Busy!

Well, I haven't been very good at up-dating my blog this month at all :( !! I have been wrapped up in this good ole thing they call life!

I have been helping my daughter out with her girls..I feel so bad for her she has had babysitting problems & almost lost her job over it; but now papa & I are keeping them while she is working... :-) Its so bittersweet too cause Rickey & I are enjoying the heck outta keeping them but I hate it that she had so many problems.. So, now we'll have 'em Monday thru Friday an every other weekend!! I guess you can tell i'm all excited ;)

so lets get back to sewing! Now that we have kinda got back in a routine of sorts LOL! I can plan my sewing around naps, play time, cuddle time an all the other wonderful things that come with little ones!
I have to go now hubby just hollered "suppers done"! After supper I have to make a couple of outfits to list on facebook, an, these are designs I have come up with on my own a bit of this look & a bit of the other look ! So I am looking forward to seeing how they come out! I will post pictures on here as soon as I can...

I hope you all are having alot of sewing fun along with enjoying the nice weather we are having! I'll try an post more later on ...

Sunday Sewing!

Hey everyone :) tryin to get better at remembering to follow up on my blog!! Today I am making some things from the tutti frutii line :) I also have to measure my grand daughters dresses for invisible zippers then they will be done finally!

Next week is gonna be a big sewing week. This afternoon I will post some pics of GA Bulldogs Pillow case style dress an some others...Monday is my doctor day so I probably won't get much accomplished..well, except for going to the fabric store!! Gotta get some GA bulldog fabric & some more from the tuttie fruitii collection I love love this line bright colors neat prints just Awesome!!

Making Maddie a Halter Style Top Just Drew it out turned out so cute :)

I listed a 3-pc outfit, a princess skirt & boys romper an finished it out with listing some more books also!

The best part I sold the 3-pc set, the princess skirt an the first pillow case style dress last night :)

Haven't felt really well today an Rickey hasn't either so we basically laid around most of the day! Brittany came over with her girls an stayed a good bit I love when they come an visit!! While they were here Maddie an me made her a halter type top...

I cut 2 rectangles one longer than the other..I took one piece an made the front I serged all edges an then made a 3/8" hem on the front. I also made a 3/8" casing on the back which I put the smaller elastic in.

the front I made to fit snug with V-style straps to tie around the neck and on the back at the top where I made the elastic casing I ran 10" of the smaller elastic in the casing...this made the top snug around the back while also giving a good bit of fullness to the back area. It was fun an Maddie enjoyed it! I am gonna make her some more I have all kinds of smaller pcs of fabric that would be perfect for that!

Tomorrow I am going to finish several outfits that are almost done an I will post pics tomorrow in the evening :)

I am working on 5 Strawberry Shortcake outfits to mix n match! I hope they turn out as well as I hope...Will be working on them & finishing them up tomorrow..hopefully everything will go right for me...As long as nothing tares up I can get them all finished tomorrow :-) don't forget to check out my Etsy Store some of the new listings are showing up now thank goodness..I know that everything can't go perfect as we would like too but we can always Pray that it does!

Well, finally got a good bit done today :-) ..Tomorrow I will start on the pile that I have already cut out cause I only have to sew them together! Working on my listings for my etsy store ..for some reason the new listings I am putting on their aren't showing up at all :( Hopefully, they will show up by morning they do say to give them 24 hrs!

well, i thouht i would show you guys that I have been working :) these are just a few I have to spend the night tonight getting them all listed in my etsy store :) !! Have a few more outfits to finish then I will stop an list my heart out!!

Ya'll I have been a very big slacker with keepin up on my blog!! Of course for all of you that live in the south know we have been having one heck of a pollen season..It done me in!! Finally getting better though :)

Been sewing today got 2 dresses done gotta get some pics up for everyone! I have so many projects cut out & ready to sew together but can't seem to get a goin . .. I could fill my Etsy store if I finished all of them LOL! I definitely need to quit procrastinating!

I made my grand daughters matching dresses today they turned out so cute! I did the babies with the dress & bloomers to match and Maddie our wonderful 5 yr old also got a matching dress!! Hoping to get pics of them all together with their dresses on..

Tomorrow is a new day an I am gonna work my heart out sewing an takin pictures...Sitting around thinking about it ain't gonna work!! I so love my sewing an quilting an I had a great day just doing what I love and the best part is my hubby helped me :-)

Here we are already almost to the hump day of another week! I haven't been very good at posting lately due to sewing an appts. I am just hoping to make it thru this week! I am having trouble with my photo program/camera uggg!! Never had this kinda "trouble" before! But I have several outfits done that are ready to ship & a couple of customs tossed in too :-)

I ordered me another picture program so hopefully that will solve that problem!

Good Sewing Day March 16

Good Morning :)

Its gonna be a good day! I found tons of my Granny Brays old patterns from way back when that I could salvage an use!! I know why now back in the day every body made everything! I didn't think by the pic on the front of the pattern that well it would have good results..Boy was I wrong! The first romper(now they call them jon jons) (then they called them O'ralls!) I ever made turned out so darling...well,today I am making 3 of them!

So with fingers crossed an toes too I'm gonna see how these turn out :) I promise to show pics when done!

My Very First Post

Hi and welcome to my sewing blog..

A little bit of background here :-)

As of today March 15,2010 I have finally gotten well enough to start my sewing again! I still have a good bit of problems with my short term memory and 2008/2009 I will never remember again except for what I wrote in my journals or notes...

Any who! I have been sewing a good bit again and am actually enjoying what I am doing...I've been making several different things with my husbands help(yep I did say my hubbys help!). Rickey has watched me make things over the last 19 years and now since he is disabled he loves to help me or does all the cutting out of my outfits, helps with the designing of them(he has a very strong opinion of what "he" thinks clothes look should look like) and he does things like running elastic an ribbons thru the bands..It is so nice to be in my sewing room & have him in there with me :-) !!

I have about 8 blanket/quilts started for all the grand kids! And 2 matching outfits for all 3 of the girls! I have some shorts cut out for the boys just gotta make the tees :-) ....This sounds like alot of work don't it LOL!!
All I like on the girls sets is getting the invisible zippers along with the invisible zipper foot :-) I love love the away these turned out and when I get the zippers in I will be sure to post pics!
I have to go back to the fabric store an get some more lining for the quilts and blankets then it won't take long to get them together!
I am going back to my sewing room now an finish up a couple of outfits for my Etsy store so I can list them for sale :-)
